A brand new year often brings with it exciting new fashion trends, whether you are a follower of fashion or not, it’s always a fun way to inject a bit of life into your tried and true styles. It’s also a great way to find inspiration to an otherwise dull database of what already exists. Social media is often one way to pick up on these latest trends because the world has become increasingly interconnected, with industries and markets picking up on what the masses want, which means that everyday people are driving the trends and giving life to innovations like breathable nail polish and whacky French manicures.
Color-filled French manicures are here to stay
It’s hard to say whether the French manicure has ever gone out of style, but the classic white-tipped nails have been revamped and given a makeover, giving it a rainbow of choice when it comes to design. Contrasting tones and complementary tones have been given more prevalence in recent weeks, following Naomi Yasuda’s metallic pink finish during Collina Strada. It’s a great way to inject color into your manicures, especially if you’re one who doesn’t like to be flashy, because the color goes only on the very tips of your nails, which means you can snip them off when the mood hits.
Iridescent sheens are in
There’s nothing Millennials love more than a glossy sheen that reminds them of magic and their childhood. According to research, the reason why that generation in particular can’t seem to grow out of their childhood, is because they recognize that the world was better then, and it all worked out in the favor of fashion trends because unicorns, mermaids, and the like make for great merchandise and products – can you imagine if garish colors were the rage? We’d be one of the most badly clothed generations. But as it were, pearly sheens and fantastical galactic nail art is what we – thankfully – have.
Nail wraps are making another comeback
Nail wraps are so 2020, but they are making a stellar comeback with new patterns: florals. Retro flowery print is back, and it could be due to popular media. WandaVision and Bridgerton are both huge successes that draw from retro styles and trends, which explains why all of a sudden, muted pastels are everywhere, and it doesn’t hurt that it goes incredibly well with the spring collection of soft lilac, sky blue, and salted caramel – yes, that’s a color and not a flavor.
There are also rhinestones and 3d nail art that are dominating the catwalk, but we’re practical people and if you have an average job, there’s a fair chance that you would have to be doing house-chores by yourself, and having to do manual labour doesn’t go hand in hand with tiny decoratives because it simply isn’t practical, but if you’re going to a huge event and you don’t mind splurging on a fresh set of diamantes to add some sparkle in your life, they are also a top 2022 trend to keep your eyes on. But at the end of the day, remember that fashion belongs to the masses, and you are free to take it and make it yours.
