A subscription gift box company, based near Hastings in East Sussex, is celebrating after making more than £1million worth of sales in a year.
TreatBox curates beautifully wrapped letterbox gifts that promote self-care and wellbeing. People can sign up to a subscription service or build-their-own one-off boxes, which can be filled with items such as jewellery, stationery, chocolates, clothing and natural bath and body products.
Zoe Charlton started the business from her kitchen table seven years ago, but it is only in the last year, since the coronavirus pandemic began, that she’s seen it take off. Zoe has gone from sending out around 30 boxes a day to sending out more than 300 boxes a day and in April she sent out her 110,000th box.
And she is celebrating even further after making £1.3million worth of sales between April 2020 and April 2021.
Zoe has also taken on new employees and moved to a larger premise to cope with demand.
“I can’t quite believe it,” she said. “To hit over a million-pound worth of sales in a year is amazing, especially as it has been just me for a long time. We’ve seen the biggest increase in interest and in sales during the pandemic. It’s forced us all to shop differently but also, not being able to meet up and see each other has meant we are turning to gifts and special keepsakes to show each other we care. All our boxes are designed to make you feel special and loved and in these troubled times, people are also buying them for themselves too.”
TreatBox provides various subscription boxes where each month the gift box will feature a different theme and give the recipient the tools to be kind to themselves. People can also build-their-own gift box where the box can contain five, seven or ten items; or buy one of the ready-to-go boxes which are based around themes such as Night off, Wellness or Chill and Relax.
