The world, and particularly Europe, is experiencing a serious energy crisis. The measures taken by various governments trying to limit inflation and the risk of depleting energy reserves has resulted in soaring energy costs.

This winter, simple solutions must be found to reduce the demand for energy in Europe. These include heating, which on average represents nearly two-thirds of energy consumption for households.

Compatible with most heating systems, the Netatmo Smart Thermostats and Valves allow users to save energy without compromising on comfort. With smart features, such as 7-day scheduling, it enables users to heat their home only when it’s needed with room-by-room control, and open-window detection to avoid wasting energy. With free energy-saving reports, it’s also possible to track heating use directly from a smartphone and find out how much was saved each month thanks to the Smart Thermostat.

At the Netatmo stand, the two new products for this IFA are the Smart Outdoor Camera in white and the Smart Security Sensor, the first Matter product for the brand.

Easy to install and less expensive than a complete surveillance security system, Netatmo’s smart security solutions allow the user to stay connected to their home through their smartphone, tablet or computer, even if they’re a thousand miles away.

The Netatmo smart cameras use AI algorithms, allowing them to distinguish between a significant event and a harmless one. The Netatmo Smart Outdoor Camera, now available in white and black, can tell the difference between a person, animal or vehicle, while the Indoor Camera has a facial recognition feature.


Likewise, the Smart Video Doorbell, which ensures users never miss a visit, combines style with security. Not only does it allow users to remotely tell a delivery person where to leave a package, but also distinguishes between a person and a harmless movement, it protects the home from break-ins, helping users feel safe if suspicious activity is detected.

Be warned against hazards in the home

Accidents in the home are the leading cause of admissions to A&E in Europe. To live in a safe home, you need to be able to effectively prevent hazards. The Netatmo Smart Smoke Alarm, equipped with a 10-year battery, triggers an 85-decibel alarm and instantly warns users on their smartphone if a fire breaks out. This notification allows them to take immediate action, even when they’re not at home.

The Netatmo Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm monitors fuel-burning appliances (boiler, gas cooker, fireplace, etc.) by measuring the presence of the harmful gas and alerts users via an alarm and notification. It has a built in battery with a 10 year lifespan and automatically tests itself to ensure it’s working properly (in particular, it checks the battery and sensor).

Since the start of the pandemic, Europeans have become more sensitive to the air quality of their environment, as they are spending more time inside. Indoor air can be up to 5 times more polluted than the air outside. The Smart Air Quality Monitor analyses data from the indoor environment (CO2, noise, humidity and temperature levels) and helps users live in a safe home. There is a Pro version of the Sensor available, which is mainly used by schools and other public buildings.

The Netatmo Smart Home Weather Station allows users to monitor weather readings on their smartphone so they can plan their outings, organise their gardening or figure out what to wear. The Weather Station was the first product that Netatmo released, and it’s now celebrating its 10-year anniversary!
